sad hat.

i am so sad right now i can't even talk about it.

but i think since i am so sad, maybe i am allowed to buy this hat.



it's $59. which means i'll buy it in NJ to avoid the 8.5% or whatever it is NY sales tax.

=( will report on reasons i'm sad later ... after the wound has scabbed over a little.

There's no sales tax on clothing.

§ 1115. Exemptions from sales and use taxes
Effective: September 1, 2008

(a) Receipts from the following shall be exempt from the tax on retail sales imposed under subdivision (a) of section eleven hundred five and the compensating use tax imposed under section eleven hundred ten:
...
(30) Clothing and footwear for which the receipt or consideration given or contracted to be given is less than one hundred ten dollars per article of clothing, per pair of shoes or other articles of footwear or per item used or consumed to make or repair such clothing and which becomes a physical component part of such clothing.

Oh never knew about the $110 limit! Good to know. That's really retarded though. Taxing the amount by which it exceeds $110 might make sense but if it's $109.99, I'm not taxed at all and if it's $110, I'm taxed on the entire amount?!
